It's been a busy time at Waitohi!

In February, we celebrated a major milestone – the completion of the building’s roof. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor marked the occasion by hosting an afternoon tea with community representatives and partners Southbase Construction and Athfield Architects.

In March, Johnsonville Library, Keith Spry Pool and Johnsonville Community Centre held a BBQ to celebrate Neighbours Day Aotearoa. One of the highlights was robot story time. Frank (short for Frankenbot) is part of Wellington City Libraries’ technological collection, and will make guest appearances at Waitohi when it opens next summer.

A range of fun and inspiring programs and events, catering for customers of all ages, have been developed for the library. These range from Baby Rock & Rhyme to senior Tea & Tales; from coding clubs to Let’s go Lego sessions.

Current Library services include the sale of WCC rubbish bags, recycling bags, daily or monthly parking coupons and recycling bins. Customers can also use the internet service with free WIFI access.

We’re building a new two-storey library which will be three times larger than the current library. The new library will offer flexible, modern spaces complemented by the latest technology; as well as a makerspace – a creative, collaborative space dedicated to hands-on activity and learning.

There will be a café on the second floor, and we are currently seeking expressions of interest from café operators to partner with us.

Find out more about submitting an expression of interest

The library is currently located at 5 Broderick Road, Johnsonville

The spa and sauna are currently unavailable due to the construction work. A new spa and sauna will be installed when Waitohi opens next summer.

Keith Spry Pool is located at 15 Frankmoore Avenue.
