Thank you for your submissions

We are pleased to have heard from several Wellington residential and commercial property developers, the Property Council New Zealand, the retirement village and aged care sector, and other specialist developers (for example, hospitals and education) as well as from some individuals.

There has been high standard of submission, including valuable information, and we will be working to improve the policy as a result.

About this project

The Council reviewed the Development Contributions Policy to bring it up to date with planned costs for community facilities, like water and transport infrastructure, in the new Long-term Plan 2021-31. The policy relates to planned costs that cater for growth.

We heard your views on the proposed amended policy. The proposals included:

  • proposed updated development contribution charges
  • presentation in a new template provided by the Department of Internal Affairs
  • updated maps that include new development areas.

Your comments informed the final policy, which was adopted by the Council on 31 March 2022. It took effect from 1 May 2022.
